Rainbow Six Siege Esports Director Wei Yue is stepping down from the position. A post on his official Twitter account confirms that after more than four years with the company, Yue is departing for another opportunity. As a video games developer for more than a decade, Yue has an impressive background in customer support and Esports.
In the post Yue stated his final week with Ubisoft, more specifically working on Rainbow Six Siege, is the week of June 30. While he may be leaving the company he worked as Esports Director and Esports Produce Director for a total of four years and four months, Yue says the game and its esports are in good hands. He insists that previous announcements related to Rainbow Six Siege esports competitions and viewership are still being taken care of and worked on.
While Yue's time as Esports Director at Ubisoft may be over, he will still attend future events. One of the largest Rainbow Six Siege esports tournaments, the BLAST R6 Major event, will take place this fall in late October.
As for where Yue is going next, it's unclear. He's taking time off to be with family and will return to a new role after the summer. Before starting at Ubisoft, Yue worked at Blizzard Entertainment as Customer Support Representative before taking on a manager position with the company's esports division.
When he's not working on esports or video games, he travels the world. So far, he's been to seven continents and 99 countries. He plans to visit his 100th country while he's between jobs.
